Working again with Cannon Design, LAND3 create two landscape spaces for the new University of Kansas Behavior Health Hospital to be located in the original EPA building in downtown Kansas City, Kansas. Both spaces are based on the [EBD] Evidence Based Design in which patient health can be improved with visual and physical access to green spaces.
An exterior garden space was designed to provide patients therapeutic spaces to reflect or socialize. A labyrinth offers meditative principles and a destination with no obstacles.
A 4 story glass ceiling atrium is the signature architecture feature of the existing building. LAND3 designed atrium planting beds and bamboo planters to create a signature landscape statement for this space. Vegetative panels climb the walls adding to the signature.
